The Writing Process

What is the writing process all about? You may know the 5 steps but do you know what you actually have to do? This graph explains it to you.

Prewriting – Plan what you are going to write. Choose your topic, identify your audience and purpose, brainstorm ideas and organise information.

Drafting – Write ideas in sentences and paragraphs. Follow your prewriting plan to write a first draft.

Revising – Begin editing your writing. Make changes that will improve your writing.

Proofreading – Check for errors. Check your grammar, spelling, capitalisation and punctuation.

Publishing – Write your final piece. Think of an interesting title and write a neat copy of your work. Share it with your audience.
